Skills from the world of Film, Theatre & TV all combine to help you achieve your wildest dreams. We have been asked to produce many unusual items over the years and could fill and entire web site with the results. Here are just a few of the projects that we hope you will find of interest. Remember, whatever your desires, be it simple set designs or outrageous carved effigies, give us a call, it’s all part of the Theme & Design service.

MANUFACTURING

BABY GRAND PIANO
The brief here was to build an exact working replica of baby grand piano. The whole project took around two weeks to complete being manufactured completely in lightweight MDF. It was then given a coat of primer and finished with pearlescent white and lacquered to protect it. Finally it was fitted with a fully weighted keyboard and put to work. It still remains a popular piece of our hire stock, particularly for venues with difficult access and marquee events, where constant temperature changes would require the retuning of a live piano.
TEST TUBE DRINKS
When a client wanted something a little different to serve pre-dinner drinks for a space party, we set to designing a display using test tubes. Manufactured in clear acrylic, the tubes are arranged around a central bubble tube on circular discs precision cut to prevent the tubes from falling through. The drinks themselves were coloured using food dye and the whole concept was greeted with much amusement and appraisal. Although it has to be said, cleaning 300 test tubes wasn’t greeted with much amusement back at base the following day!
CANDELABRA
We had always found it difficult to source candelabra that was A: durable enough for commercial use, and B: easily transportable in quantity. Thanks to a member of the family who specialises in steel fabrication and wrought iron work we were able to design and manufacture a unit that was strong, yet breaks down to its component form for easy carriage. The bases are also waterproof allowing the use of floating candles, while a central tray at the top is ideally suited to supporting oasis or small bowls for floral decoration. Standard finish is black but with sufficient notice, they can be painted to any colour required. We can also colour code the candles for you too! In 2002 we will be introducing a 2mtr floor standing version into our hire stock.
